Full-time Youth Centre Coordinator Required for a 1 year Contract

 

Woolwich Community Services (WCS), a social service agency providing opportunities and resources for all residents of Woolwich, requires a full-time Youth Centre Coordinator (35 hours per week) for a 1 year contract in Elmira (opportunity for a permanent position).

 

This position will provide social and recreational programs for families and their children 6-18 years of age living in Woolwich Township. The WCS Youth Centre (YC) is located at the Woolwich Memorial Centre in Elmira.

 

This position will also include working a flexible schedule with evenings and two Saturdays a month at the Youth Centre. Due to the Covid pandemic more creative flexibility is required for this position.

 

Responsibilities:

  • To plan and implement daily program opportunities.

  • To complete daily attendance and summary of activities, as well as monthly activity calendars and statistical reports, and overseeing memberships – collecting, documenting and updating

  • To review the programs and provide input into the evaluation of the programs using data collected

  • To promote the YC throughout the community including school contact, posters, media etc.

  • To stay informed in current youth events, participate in and/or implement training and events to best support vulnerable youth

  • To provide a safe and positive environment that the youth can contribute to and grow from

  • To maintain a clean and organized environment, and to ensure all equipment/electronics are in working order

  • To work cooperatively with other facility user groups to allow for all program needs to be met

  • To be an active member of the Woolwich Community Services team

  • To be an active participant in fundraising efforts for WCS

  • To communicate effectively with the Community Supports Coordinator at WCS with any new or changed information, and/or gaps in services

 

Skills:

  • Experience in supporting youth

  • De-escalating conflict

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Proficient in the use of computers (PC & Mac) and applications (Word, Excel, Apple apps, etc)

  • Ability to work with Social Media (video editing/recording for FB, Instagram, YouTube, etc) for virtual programming

  • Possess an ability to work well with people and exemplary customer service skills

  • Be flexible, highly organized and a self-starter

  • Use a trauma informed non-judgmental approach

  • Have knowledge of community resources an asset

  • Be able to problem solve, manage time well and be able to prioritize responsibilities

  • Be able to work independently with minimal direction

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma related to Recreation and Youth

  • Minimum one year working in a youth setting

  • CPR and First Aid certificate, Vulnerable Sector Police Check

  • Have access to transportation

 

Wages are $16.40/hour (35 hours/week) and 2 weeks paid vacation per year. Full benefits after three months.  Start April 19, 2021
